A week of Firsts

Here is a post I was working on before we left on our trip, but didn't get a chance to post it. It is from the week of 2/15.

This has been an exciting week for us. We have been able to experience a lot of new things with Shawn.
1. We bought Shawn a new high chair off of Craigslist and he has loved using it. Although, he is still a little small for it as you'll see in the pictures. [Craigslist is AWESOME! It is a community where people buy, sell, and give stuff away. They have great bargains on there for just about everything you are looking for. Click on this link to see if there is a community near you-- http://www.craigslist.org ]
Shawn can just barely see over the tray. My Mom said he needs a booster seat for his high chair!

Not sure what this face is, but I think it is HILARIOUS!!! :)

2. Shawn attended his first Bible Class on Sunday. The baby class is for babies that are 6 months and older, so Shawn was finally old enough to attend. I was so excited that I even brought the camera to take his picture. I took a bunch of cute ones during "Story Time" before I realized that the memory card was not in the camera! OOPS! So the pictures below are posed, but I think they are still cute! :) He is showing off the "Days of Creation" book that they read in class. [He loves Bible class. I am now the teacher during service for the 6 - 12 mos class. It has been fun but challenging. I love the babies!!]

3. We fed Shawn pears for the first time on Sunday. The puree that I made is delicious and I found myself sneaking a little to eat! But he didn't like it very much and the faces he made are priceless!
4. Today we went to our first class at "The Little Gym". It is a great center where they do classes for kids from 4 mos to 10 years. They start with little kids (lovingly called "Bugs") learning new movements and focusing on developmental exercises, and then each class becomes more involved. They also offer gymnastics and dance for kids a little older. Shawn had so much fun playing with Mommy and Daddy, and the other kids there today. We will definitely be joining the weekly program.

Inroducing Shawn to the class.

This was our class that day. Every week there are some new faces and some regulars. The little girl to my right (Molly) has become Shawn's little girlfriend. At our most recent class he was smiling at her, talking to her, and even held her hand! That's my little man!! Working on crawling with Daddy.

Here is Shawn haning from a stick. This helps to tone his abs, which will help with crawling. He was the only baby that could do this! :) Here we are bouncing on a ball. This also helps to tone the abs and develop the core muscles. He loves the ball. We finish every class with bubbles. Shawn loved this so much that I stopped and bought some bubbles on the way home from class. We try to blow bubbles at least once every day. It helps babies to develop better hand-eye coordination. We even learned the sign language sign for bubbles. He loves them!

5. This week we also promoted Shawn to a cart shopper. By this I mean, he no longer has to look at stores from his car seat pr stroller. We were given one of those cart protecters and have been putting it to good use. Shawn loves the ability to look around and see the entire store, not just what is visible from the car seat.

Yay for new things!! Sounds like Shawn is really growing up! :) Hope you all are doing well. (p.s. We have that same cart cover- it was confusing for me at first, but now I love it. The toys attached to it are genious!)

I took pictures when both of my girls went to Bible class for the first time, too! How funny! I thought I was the only one..... And I totally second the shopping cart thing. I'd still keep Bella's except I look CRAZY with a 2 1/2 year old in it! :)

Glad to have details on the Little Gym class. Always hear about it on our PBS station, but never knew what it was. Cool!
